7 in 10 say YES to shake-up!
In Friday's Whitby Gazette it was revealed that an online poll conducted by the paper showed that 70% of people backed the proposed unitary authority, which would see all distict councils including Scarborough scrapped.
This cannot come as a surprise to anyone. I have discussed this with friends and colleagues, and the overriding sense of despair with Scarborough Borough Council is evident. Perhaps if whitby and it's people had been treated with a little more respect from our masters,it might not have come to this. The arguments swing to and fro, local and political discussions have raged, yet,the overall sense of injustice cannot be brushed aside.
Liberal Democrat Councillor for the historic town of Whitby, North Yorkshire. A member of Whitby Town Council, Scarborough Borough and North Yorkshire County Council.First elected in the year 2000,and again in 2001, 2005 and 2007 .I am born and bred in Whitby, and intensely proud and protective of it. I am well-known, and outspoken, and feel strongly about freedom of speech and the individual.
